Why Visit?

Stunning glaciers and plentiful ice make this a good stop on the way between the Antarctic Circle and the northern peninsula.

Where is it?

South of Prospect Point, Holtdahl is a large bay running east from Mudge Passage, between Renaud and Lavoisier Islands.

Challenges?

The expected challenges here are ice, ice and more ice.

Wildlife

There are Adelie penguins on Prospect Point at the northern tip of the entrance to this bay, but very little living in the bay on the surrounding glaciers and icefields.

Human activities

Very little human activity has occurred in this area, due to ice, isolation, poor charting and surrounding shallow waters.
